We arrived in Mindelo in the island of Sao Vicente, one of the 10 volcanic islands that form the archipelago of Cape Verde in the Central Atlantic and the hometown of Cesaria Evora for the morna enthusiasts. We will embark on the Pourquoi pas? tomorrow morning and sail on the 13th.
At the airport, we met part of the ship crew and travelled with them to the harbor before going to the hotel. The Pourquoi pas? was quite the sight from a distance and even more impressive from close by! We even had a quick glimpse of the Nautile resting in the ship hangar. We are super excited, to say the least!
We spent the rest of the day strolling around the cobblestone streets and candy-colored colonial buildings of Mindelo, visiting the city market and the fish market. Beautiful town…but we are ready to go!
